New Patients - What To Expect
If you’re new to my massage practice and you’re not sure what to expect, I’ve created this massage appointment step-by-step document to help you prepare for our therapy sessions.
Individual Case History
On your first appointment it is best to arrive approximately 15 minutes early in order to fill out a confidential health history form. I will review your health history in order to ensure that the massage treatment you receive is both effective and safe.
Initial Health Assessment
In order to better understand what areas need more focus and for you to get the best results possible an initial assessment is performed. This assessment is typically very quick. Throughout the course of your treatment you may be reassessed to determine your progress.
During Massage Treatment
Before you begin the treatment I will ask for your consent to work on the areas you discussed. Also I’ll leave the room to let you undress get in between the sheets. If you are uncomfortable with this, you have the option to have the massage done over your clothing. Only the area being worked on will be uncovered. To ensure you are getting the most from your massage therapy treatment I encourage you to engage in open communication with me. If you feel you need more or less pressure at any time, let me know.
If you feel you need to stop the treatment for any reason it is also O.K. Just let me know.
After Massage Treatment
Before I leave the room, I will ask you to get dressed and open the door when you are ready. At this point I will be able to demonstrate exercises specifically designed to help you accelerate your healing process or assist in correcting postural imbalances. Also, I will let you know if you will need to use any ice, heat or epsom salts depending on the situation. You will more than likely require more than one massage to show the most significant results.
I can suggest a number of treatments to help you achieve your health goals more quickly and with the least amount of pain or stress!
